In commemoration of World Environment Day 2019, the ACT SMART AND GREEN COMMUNITY FOUNDATION (ASGCF) carried out a series of impactful environmental advocacy campaigns focused on combating air pollution and promoting sustainable environmental practices in Port Harcourt, Rivers State. The awareness campaign was actively conducted at Mile 3 Market, Port Harcourt, and through a radio outreach session on 99.5 WISH FM, where members of ASGCF engaged the public on the major causes and dangers of air pollution within society. During the advocacy program, emphasis was placed on harmful practices such as indiscriminate dumping of refuse, open burning of waste, and excessive use of fossil fuels, all of which contribute significantly to environmental degradation and public health challenges. ASGCF also educated members of the public on innovative ways to convert waste into wealth through recycling, proper waste management, and renewable energy solutions. The campaign encouraged individuals and communities to adopt environmentally friendly habits that support cleaner air and a healthier society. Through these sensitization efforts, ASGCF continues to demonstrate its commitment to environmental sustainability and community development with the ultimate aim of structuring a better society for present and future generations.
